Job Description

The London Essentials are a unique and spontaneous five-piece band who perform amongst delighted party-goers around the World. Discarding the traditional barriers of the stage, the Essentials bring their acoustic instruments and fine voices into the audience.

Since the band’s inception in 2010, the Essentials have performed in palaces for British royalty, on superyachts in the Long Island Sound, at a garden soirée in Udaipur and on Necker Island.

Due to increasing demand they are looking for a highly organized person to assist the band leader in managing all aspects of bookings from the initial enquiry through to invoicing, and to be responsible for running the office. This is a very varied role and you will be working closely with the band leader, as well as on your own. You will need to use your own initiative and be adaptable to changing demands.

The job will offer flexible hours to be mutually agreed and will be based in a home office in Clapham, with the opportunity to work up to half of the time from your own home, once established. Initially it is anticipated that your hours will be Mon – Fri between 10am - 4pm.

Salary will be £30,000 p.a. for a 30-hour week, including 20 days holiday.

Experience and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to negotiate with clients

  • Strong planning and organisational skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Work independently and be a resourceful thinker with initiative and flexibility

  • A strong multi-tasker able to take on a wide range of activities

  • Good grasp of Windows packages and Apple software

  • Well-spoken and professional demeanor, able to interact confidently with clients

  • Experience using social media useful but not essential

  • Previous experience of working in an administrative role desirable

  • A background in marketing/PR helpful

Responsibilities

  • To answer and reply to calls, emails and booking enquiries

  • To manage and maintain the band’s schedule, bookings, travel arrangements and events

  • Invoicing clients and managing payments and expenses

  • Running the office day-to-day including filing – both manually and electronically, general office and administrative duties

  • You will be the first port of call for any enquiry, and as such will be the ambassador for the band. Although you will not be required to attend events, it will be helpful if you come to a few initially to fully appreciate how the band works.
